Let’s Learn about Emotions with Kiwi started with the need for a program that would help young children recognize, name, and understand emotions in learning self-regulation skills and building self-awareness and awareness of others. This program is based on the work of Dr. Robert Plutchik's Psychoevolutionary Theory of Basic Emotions. His theory suggests that there are 8 basic emotions with which every human is wired through his or her DNA. From these 8 basic emotions, many "shades" of these emotions have been identified.
Materials
Kiwi joins children with the 9 Plush Kiwi Toys for Identification/Self-Soothing in the calming corner. The understanding of emotions and self-regulation strategies will be put into practice with the 8 kiwi stories, the tips on their postcards, the posters, the emotion thermometer, and more material found in the Kiwi Kit for the classroom.

Through the platform, children will be able to watch kiwi's video stories, cartoons, and funny videos. They will also be able to play interactive games and activities to continue learning and understanding their emotions and applying self-regulation strategies.
Assessments
Kiwi provides teachers and parents with a tool to monitor children's self-regulation of their emotions.

Family engagement is at the forefront of the Let’s Learn about Emotions with Kiwi program. In addition to parental access to the stories and videos, parents enjoy a variety of tips, practices, and strategies for working with their children on managing emotions at home.
