We all view the world with different lenses. The ability to separate the things that happen to us from the meaning we assign to them is essential if we want to become capable of shaping our own reality. The meaning we assign to everything turns into a filter through which we view the world. This filter impacts our beliefs, actions, behaviors, and habits.

We do not need to be in any artificial state of bliss in every moment, but there is a difference between being alive and actually living life. So how are you living your life? Are the majority of your hours of each day joy-filled? Do you most often feel great, blissful and satisfied? Is there awe, wonder and excitement in how you live? Or is there a monotonous, frustrating, pessimistic, or lifeless and perhaps even angry or cynical pattern to your life? If you can relate more to the second way of living, perhaps it is time to change the lens through which you are viewing the world.

Teaching is a selfless profession. Although many teachers find great satisfaction in their work, most educators would probably say they are driven by the desire to help and inspire students.

Oftentimes, educators sacrifice their own well-being to support students' social, emotional, and academic needs. Teacher wellness influences school culture and climate, instruction, and student's academic, personal, and emotional development. It also affects the stability of the workforce.

Dr. Ja’net Bishop-Nesbit defines educator wellness along eight dimensions described by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: spiritual, physical, emotional, environmental, social, intellectual, occupational, and financial.

In this session, she’ll describe the relevance of these eight dimensions for educators and some strategies to address them so that their self-care supports self-preservation.

Intention is the tool of conception, as in the seed that is planted in fertile soil. Manifestation is the tool of creation, as in the tree that grows from the seed. Consider the idea that ‘intention’ carries masculine energy and ‘manifestation’ holds the feminine energy in the spectrum of universal law. The two combined create the experience in the life we truly desire.
